Well here is a little about myself. I'm very passionate about technology and thrive in enviroments that require me to think outside of the box and be innovative. Being a perfectionist keeps me highly motivated and if there is a problem I cannot resolve I make it my personal duty to find the solution. My quest for knowlege has led me to expand myself with more qualifications in my personal capacity. I can work in environments that are team based or situtions where I have to work unsupervised. I have leadership qualities as I have had to lead a team on a few occasions.

I have been involved with many projects over the last couple of years including owning my own wireless ISP.

Below is a breakdown of some of the work i did within E-Soul and my personal time.

Senior ICT Engineer          (Permanent)             E-Soul Technologies, 2005 – 2010 November

• Supporting Newest Infrastructure for our application EDMES, including designing and implementing load balance and extensive QOS using Mikrotik.
• Responsible for setting up and maintaining MYSQL replication.
• Responsible for design and implementation of remote backup server and scripts.
• Responsible for deploying NOD32 LAN update server to manage AV throughout the company.
• Deployed TRIXBOX VOIP server and all related services.
• Researched suitable reporting platform, came up with OPENREPORTS and deployed and managed for e-soul, moving towards Pentaho BI.
• Created php scripts to sync Edmes users to OPENREPORTS users.
• Deployed SMS server for notifications of failed services and customer notifications such as reaching of bandwidth limits.
• Monitoring and graphing of all equipment to pro-actively maintain performance and predict failure of servers and equipment via SNMP and CACTI and the DUDE from Mikrotik.
• Wrote numerous scripts to inform of power failures and services failures via SMS.
• Extensive PBR designed and deployed.
• Setting up and maintaining routing tables between all routers, mainly OSPF used.

• The Companies previous projects included putting forth a bandwidth solution for NMMU. Advising upgrade path for PE College and all related sites, design and implementation of this.
• This included firewalls at each remote site with proxy/mail using FreeBSD as gateway. A Novell NetWare server at each site with the intention to replicate between sites. Duties included setting up the Novell servers and designing backup methods. Writing scripts for controlled printer deployment. A General PC Rollout was also done in the beginning which I had to assist with managing the team. Assisting our development team with a new and upcoming student solution, hoping to compete with ITS. Running a full server infrastructure based on FreeBSD and Linux for the companies mail/web servers and additional ISP related functions. Including bandwidth management, Implementing PPPOE server/Radius Server with Mysql as backend. VPN’s between our sites done with Openvpn. Testing and deploying many long range outdoor wireless links. And Many other Duties.
• Currently deploying a metro wide wireless infrastructure to supply internet access and VPN access to the NMMU University. A hotspot infrastructure will be deployed along side.

Reason For Leaving: Retrenched

General ICT Services        (Part-Time)               Plan-B Wireless/R63,2008 - 2010

• Planning a ISP infrastructure to supply internet access across the Karoo and deployment thereof. Mail server/web server/radius server/mysql/openvpn servers were my responsibility to plan, deploy and maintain as well, including the backup procedures for the mysql database and maintenance thereof.
• Deployed a graphing solution to enable pro-active response to network maintenance and pending failures and growth.

Reason For Leaving: Owner Sold Business

Network/System Administrator  (Part-Time)               Jerusalem Ministries,2004 – 2005

Design of network infrastructure from bottom up. Implementation of a Windows 2003 Domain acting as File/Print Server,  DHCP, DNS, Fax Server, AD. Also is a NIS server via WSFU Clients Controlled by policy. Implementation of a FreeBSD UNIX gateway Running postfix as MTA, squid as proxy, apache as web server. NIS client allowing central authentication from the AD. Addition and control of user accounts is central
Duties consisted of mainly maintenance and control of web sites accessed. And bandwidth control. Deployment of 5km wireless link between Walmer and Schoenmakerskop.
